Episode 58: Writing Stories of Healing & Hope with Susan Cushman

Resources Mentioned:

Connect with Susan

The one thing that connects us all is stories. Learning the experiences of others reminds us that we aren’t alone, no matter what we are going through.

In this episode, I am so excited to be joined for a second time, by author Susan Cushman. Susan first appeared on Joy Found Here on episode 20, so if you haven’t listened to that episode yet I highly recommend going back to learn about her book John and Mary Margaret. However, Susan is back this time to talk about her newest book,  Pilgrim Interrupted, which is a collection of essays about her life. Through her writing, Susan beautifully shares her pilgrimage with readers and reminds us all that healing is possible.

Throughout this episode, Susan talks about her new book,  Pilgrim Interrupted. She shares the topics that the collection of essays covers and what inspired her to write this book, after just coming out with her book John and Mary Margaret a year ago. Susan also talks about why Alzehimers will continue to be a theme in her writing, how she chose what essays to include in Pilgrim Interrupted, what her next book will be, and more.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • About Susan’s new book, Pilgrim Interrupted (6:37)

  • Why Susan is passionate about writing about Alzheimers (15:56)

  • Why Susan decided to make the format a collection of essays (19:40)

  • About Susan’s next book contract (33:50)
